- What facilities are included in the Villa? Top
- Our Villas are fully equipped with everything you are likely to need.
Other than your personal items and toiletries, you need only bring
pool/beach towels. On your arrival you will also find a complimentary
welcome pack that includes bottled water, milk, sugar, tea and coffee.
If there are children in your party we also provide soft drinks. For infants we have cots and high chairs.
- We are travelling to Gran Canaria for the first time
what would you suggest we bring with us from the
UK? Top
- Apart from the obvious things, such as money, passport, driving
licence etc, the most popular UK items that holidaymakers bring are teabags,
coffee, cheese and bacon. Although such items are usually available here
they can be a lot more expensive. There are often Spanish equivalents,
eg breakfast cereals, that are very good and cheaper.
A small First Aid kit with aspirins, plasters, antiseptic etc
would be an advantage with, of course, your personal medication.
A back pack is a very useful item and comes in very handy for day
trips, shopping sprees and walks.
Reading material – books, magazines etc. Although most of the UK's popular
magazines are available on the island and they tend to be quite current, they
are more expensive. Most popular UK newspapers are available on the day of issue.
Other items you may wish to consider bringing are a torch, Spanish phrase book, maps,
guide book, games such as scrabble or cards and your favourite CDs and DVDs.
- Do I need to pack any special clothing? Top
- Many travellers arriving in Gran Canaria for the first time pack far too many clothes and
find they take many of them home unused! At any time of year you holiday in Gran Canaria you have the opportunity to travel light.
In the Summer most holidaymakers only wear light apparel for the
daytime. Short sleeve shirts or T–shirts, shorts etc. In the
evening very light clothes are the most comfortable and appropriate.
Wintertime – again light clothes for the daytime. Day temperatures
rarely drop below 20C and can reach up to 30C, even in January and February.
Evenings – the nights are cooler and slightly warmer clothes are
called for. If you intend to explore the mountain areas of Gran Canaria
then, again, warmer clothes might be required. A cardigan or jumper
is generally all that is needed if you are dining
outside or eating at a partially open air restaurant.
- Do I need to take any special precautions against the sun? Top
- Yes you do. Stock up with high UV factor sun protection products.
The sun in the South of Gran Canaria is very strong, even
at the height of winter. Gran Canaria is on the same latitude as Tampa in
Florida. If you find that you require additional sun creams they can be purchased
at chemists (farmacias), duty free shops and larger supermarkets.
- Is the electrical supply similar to UK? Top
- Yes it is. If you re planning to bring any electrical equipment with you, you will find it will work
perfectly well in our Villas. However, you will need to bring with you an adaptor to convert your
plug from the UK 3 pin to fit the continental 2 round pin socket.
- Will I be able to contect to the Internet if I bring my laptop with me? Top
- Unfortunately not from your Villa. However, there are a number of Internet Cafes only minutes away from
your Villa if you need to stay connected!
- How long will it take to drive from the airport to Tauro in
the South? Top
- The distance from the airport to Tauro is approximately 50 kms and takes around 35 minutes by car
or taxi. The GC1 motorway is directly linked to the resort. A taxi will cost about 55€
and will carry a maximum of 4 persons. Do ensure the meter is on before you set off.
- Are clothes washing facilities available in the
Villas? Top
- All of our Villas have a washing machine/dryer, iron, and ironing board.
- What is the weather like in the South of Gran
Canaria? Top
- Perfect with mostly blue skies nearly all year round! Summer temperatures are rarely
excessively hot nor humidity high and in Winter the daytime temperature rarely drops
below 20C. It has been said that the South of Gran Canaria has one of the best micro-climates in the world.
- What facilities are there for obtaining Euros in the area? Top
- Many holidaymakers use their credit/debit cards and find the rate of
exchange favourable. ATMs and banks are widely available. Alternatively, traveller's
cheques offer peace of mind. Cashing traveller's cheques, or exchanging Sterling
if you decide to bring cash, is easily achieved and rates of exchange offered by the many Currency Exchange shops
are very competitive.
- While I am out will my money and
valuables be safe in the Villa? Top
- Yes as all of our Villas have a valuables safe installed just for this
purpose. We also provide an external key safe so you can leave your
Villa keys in a secure place whilst you are out.
